Leasing iTaukei land and purchasing land on lease will be easier for people after the launch of the TLTB Online Market Place.

This digital platform is the first of its kind in the Pacific where landowners can lease their land and investors can invest in leasing land.

Speaking at the launch, Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Jone Usamate says the Constitution guarantees that all the land in this country that is owned by the iTaukei cannot be converted or taken away.

He says this is why not a single inch of iTaukei land has been lost under this Constitution or the government.

Usamate says the TLTB’s task is to empower landowning communities to unlock the full benefits of the land they steward to turn dreams into developments that create generational wealth for the iTaukei people.

He adds the TLTB’s duty of care extends equally to the rights of the tenants and potential tenants who benefit from leasing iTaukei land.

The Minister says this online resource brings transparency for landowners and tenants and also ensures correct market lease rates for iTaukei land.
