USA men’s basketball survives scare beating Serbia 95-91 to book gold medal final showdown against France

The USA Men’s basketball side survived a major scare from Serbia in the Olympics basketball competition semi final after coming from behind to secure a 95-91 win this morning and secure a gold medal final showdown against host France on Sunday.

Serbia dominated the first 3 quarters of the match claiming the 1st quarter 31-23, the second quarter 23-20 and the 3rd quarter 22-20 before the US claimed the last quarter 32-15 to win the game.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was the toast of his US side scoring a game-high 36 points.

USA will play France in the final at 7.30am on Sunday.

France defeated Germany 73-69 in the other semi final.

Meanwhile, the United States is currently leading the official Olympics medal tally with 30 gold, 38 silver and 35 bronze followed by China with 28 gold, 25 silver and 19 bronze, Australia is third with 18 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze while France is fourth with 14 gold, 19 silver and 21 bronze.
