USA 7s names 12-member squad for Olympics with 6 Olympics debutants

Fiji Men’s 7s pool opponents the USA Rugby 7s have named their 12-member squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics with 6 players to be making their Olympic debuts.

Coach Mike Friday has also included speedster Perry Baker and veteran playmaker Madison Hughes who will be making their third Olympics appearance for the Eagles.

The six players who will make their Olympic debuts include Naima Fuala’au, Malacchi Esdale, Aaron Cummings, Orrin Bizer, Marcus Tupuola, and Lucas Lacamp.

The USA will hope to improve on their group stage exit in Rio and their quarter-final exit in Tokyo in the last two Olympics and will try and get a place on the podium.

They are in Pool C alongside Fiji, HSBC SVNS champions and hosts France, and debutants Uruguay.

USA squad:

Aaron Cummings, Maka Unufe, Orrin Bizer, Matai Leuta, Marcus Tupuola, Kevon Williams ©, Naima Fuala’au, Malacchi Esdale, Stephen Tomasin, Madison Hughes, Perry Baker, Lucas Lacamp.

Travelling reserves:

Pita Vi, Adam Channel.

The Men’s Olympic 7s competition will be held from the 25th to the 28th of this month.
