UN Resident Coordinator in Fiji Sanaka Samarasinha.

The United Nations will soon roll out a food security program worth more than a million dollars for the most vulnerable people affected by TC Yasa.

UN Resident Coordinator in Fiji Sanaka Samarasinha says they will be looking at people who are already on social welfare and very poor subsistence farmers badly impacted.

He says preventing violence and making sure that victims of violence get the services is also a real priority in the UN’s post TC Yasa recovery.

He says they are training midwives and working with teachers to make sure they are the eyes and ears on the ground for women and girls.

Samarasinha says they will also be rolling out recovery programs for men who are mentally stressed.
