A 13-year-old student and a 29-year-old driver are receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries in two separate accidents.

Police say the 13-year-old student was allegedly hit by a bus driven by a 59-year-old man along Toga Road in Nausori.

They say the girl allegedly crossed from behind the parked bus when the incident occurred.

She was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre, where she remains admitted.

In another accident, a 37-year-old man lost control of the vehicle he was driving along Marine Drive in Lami yesterday morning, causing it to veer onto the opposite lane and collide with an oncoming car.

Police say the 29-year-old driver of the oncoming vehicle sustained injuries and is admitted to the CWM Hospital.

Police are again urging drivers and pedestrians to be alert and vigilant when it comes to road safety.

They say we all share responsibilities in keeping our roads safe and the loss of lives and injury can be avoided if road safety is taken seriously at all times.
