Jerry Tuwai has been named alongside teammates Meli Derenalagi and Vilimoni Botitu

2019 Fiji Sportsman of Year, Jerry Tuwai has been named alongside teammates Meli Derenalagi and Vilimoni Botitu for the Fijian 7s Male Player of the Year Award in the Fiji Rugby Annual Awards tomorrow.

Tuwai is the current World Rugby 7s Player of the Year while Fiji 7s captain, Derenalagi was also World Rugby 7s Rookie of the Year.

Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team players Raijeli Daveua, Tokasa Seniyasi, and Aloesi Nakoci will compete for the Fijiana 7s Female Player of the Year Award.

Frank Lomani, Semi Radradra and Mosese Voka have been nominated for the Flying Fijians Player of the Year Award.

Fiji Rugby Chief Executive John O’Connor says the Annual Awards is a chance to acknowledge the hard-work and contribution to rugby and celebrate those who have excelled for the year 2019.

Meanwhile, Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber is expected to name his 13 member team for the Los Angeles 7s today.

Fiji’s first pool match in the Los Angeles 7s is against South Korea at 6.51am this Sunday.

The national side will then face France at 9.47am this Sunday while Fiji’s final pool match is against Argentina at 1.05pm this Sunday.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 5.43am next Monday while the Cup semifinals will start at 7.55am next Monday.

The Cup final of the Los Angeles 7s will kick off at 12.26pm next Monday.

  • Coach of the Year – presented by Fiji Water: Senirusi Seruvakula, Esala Nauga, Ilimo Vudiniabola
  • Match Official of the Year – presented by Tattslotto Tevita Vosalevu, Tevita Rokovereni, Aisake Drekeni
  • Rugby Administrator of the Year – presented by Fiji Holdings: Tiko Matawalu, Timoci Rabuli, Sakiusa Turagabeci
