Former 7s captain and two-time Olympic gold medallist, Jerry Tuwai

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Ben Gollings has revealed that former 7s captain and two-time Olympic gold medallist, Jerry Tuwai, is keen on making his way back into the team.

Gollings says they had a great talk with Tuwai before the team left for Vancouver and he really wants to push for a spot in the team again.

He says he will meet up again with Tuwai when they return from the third leg of the HSBC SVNS World Series, but Tuwai knows his main focus is to get back into the condition and shape required for the Olympics.

Gollings says Tuwai has the experience but he has had a bit of layoff from rugby and so now, it is a big focus for him.

Gollings further says Tuwai is also working to get a bit of game time, and it is about being on form.

He says it is nothing against Tuwai as everyone in the team needs to be on form to be selected.

Meanwhile, the Vancouver 7s will be held this Friday to Sunday.

The Fiji Men’s 7s team will take on Spain at 11.20am Friday in their first match, they will then play Canada at 4.44pm Friday before taking on Argentina at 10.33am Saturday in their last pool match.

The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 2.22pm Saturday, the cup semi finals will kick off at 8.43am Sunday and the cup final will be at 1.23pm Sunday.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will take on the USA at 7.30am Friday in their first match, they will then play Australia at 12.46pm Friday before playing Japan at 6.15am Saturday in their final pool match.

The women’s quarter finals will kick off at 11.55am Saturday, the semi finals will kick off at 7.59am Sunday and the final will be at 12.43pm Sunday.
