Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka visited Vanua Levu to explore several promising development sites and projects including an assessment of potential sites for a proposed international airport.

The Ministry says the inspections also featured a review of potential development locations that could mirror the success of Denarau, which will expand tourism infrastructure and service.

They say Gavoka also visited the new Nawi Mariner, a key project that promises to play a vital role in the growth of tourism, especially attracting luxury vessels and super yachts.

The Ministry further says its strategic focus is to leverage these developments to transform Vanua Levu into a premier tourism destination, driving long-term economic prosperity while creating sustainable opportunities for the local community. The Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Salaseini Daunabuna, Director of Civil Aviation, Alumita Lagicere, Principal Tourism Officer, Salote Waiwalu and representatives from the Commissioner Northern’s Office were part of the visiting team.
