Top teams around the country are expected to light up this weekend’s 36th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Nawaka Rugby Club president and tournament organizer, Eparama Sailo says preparations are coming along well and crowd should expect some good grassroots rugby to be displayed this weekend.

He says top teams like Police, Army, Tabadamu and Raiwasa Taveuni will be participating at this week’s tournament.

He also says they hope new talents will be unearthed in this tournament and also provide a pathway for players to get into the national training squad.

Sailo says the tournament pools will be released later tomorrow before the tournament kicks off on Friday.

84 teams will participate in the two-day event, with 48 men's teams to battle for the $10,000 prize money and $3,000 will be on the plate for the 24 U21 teams.

8 women's teams will go against each other for the $1,500 prize money, while 4 Indo-Fijian teams will go head to head for the $700 prize money for the Fellow Fijians Division.

The Nawaka 7s will be held this Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th.
