Lawyer and National Federation Party candidate in the 2018 general elections, Semi Titoko and an accountant Aporosa Ratuveikau, both of Qarcia Barristers and Solicitors have pleaded not guilty to their charges in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court today.

The matter was called today before Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili.

Titoko and Ratuveikau are charged with conversion by a trustee and aiding and abetting conversion by trustee in relation to their failure to properly account for monies received on behalf of a client.

They allegedly defrauded their client of $120,740 between September and December 2017.

Semi Titoko is also charged with perverting the course of justice arising from an attempt to prevent the client from continuing with a complaint to the Legal Practitioners Unit.

The case has been adjourned to 2nd September for a hearing on State’s application to have the matter transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

Bail has been extended for both accused persons.
