Lawyer and National Federation Party candidate in the 2018 general elections, Semi Titoko and an accountant, Aporosa Ratuveikau of Qarcia Barristers and Solicitors appeared in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court this morning.

Both have been charged with eight counts of conversion by a trustee where they allegedly failed to properly account for monies received on behalf of a client.

They allegedly defrauded their client of $120,740 between September and December 2017.

Titoko has also been charged with perverting the course of justice where he allegedly attempted to prevent the client from continuing a complaint to the Legal Practitioners Unit.

The State filed the amended charge and made an application for the matter to be transferred to the Lautoka High Court due to the seriousness of the offence.

Magistrate, Lisiate Fotofili has ordered for the State to file a formal application for the case to be transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

The case will be called on 18th June in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court. Bail has been extended for both accused persons.
