Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu.

Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu says National Federation Party President Pio Tikoduadua does not even know what is in the Police Act 1965.

He made these comments while responding to Tikoduadua’s comments that the now retracted draft bill had empowered the President to employ the Police Force and subject it to military law during an emergency or war.

Seruiratu says they had brought the emergency powers from the 1965 Act and had just changed the words Governor General to President.

He adds people need to be factual with what they present.

Tikoduadua had said the NFP thanks the people of Fiji for the collapse of the draft bill. He says the power of the people has forced a bill not to go to Parliament.
