Three officers have died following an explosion at a law enforcement training facility in East Los Angeles.

Officials say the blast occurred yesterday at the Biscailuz Centre Academy Training Facility, which houses the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Enforcement Bureau and Arson Explosives Detail, including the bomb squad.

The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but Sheriff Robert Luna described it as “an isolated incident.”

No other injuries were reported.

Sheriff Luna said the three officers killed were "fantastic experts" and long-serving members of the department, each with between 19 and 33 years of service.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased, citing the need to first notify their families.

All three officers were assigned to the department’s Arson Explosives Detail.
