There is a bonus and it will not come from the government but from a very friendly nation – it is a deserving bonus that will come to you at the end of the Rugby World Cup.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka stated this when he visited the FIJI Water Flying Fijians at their camp in Welagi, Taveuni saying the team may be eligible for a bonus depending on their finish at the RWC.

He met the players and management and ensured that their plans leading into the 2023 RWC will not be affected.

The Prime Minister says he was impressed seeing the training camp set up and also thanked the people of Welagi for the traditional welcome.

He further says he only came to pay his respect to the Turaga Tui and as he was getting into the aircraft in Nadi, he was told that the squad is training here and he thought of stopping over.

Rabuka says he is very happy to be able to see the team training hard, preparing and bonding for the Rugby World Cup in France.”

He also urged the players to not be distracted or discouraged by the financial issues facing Rugby House adding “that is for us to deal with – you do your best and we will do the rest.” The Prime Minister says he is there to tell them that they can continue working hard and there will be no distractions in their preparation adding whatever Fiji Rugby is going through will not come their way.
