The Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes says the world has a lot to learn from Fiji’s response to COVID-19.

While speaking at the Post-COVID-19 Roadshow in Ba, Feakes says the Fijian government took the tough decisions early, including shutting down travel.

He says Fiji has achieved something only a handful of other countries in the world have done, no community transmission for over 200 days.

Feakes adds Fiji’s health officials have done a top job tackling COVID and Australia is going to partner with Fiji to finish the job.

Feakes says the Australian Government has committed to providing the financial and technical support to ensure that every Fijian can get vaccinated for COVID-19.

He says a fast, safe vaccine rollout in Fiji will mean we are able to return to more normal travel, tourism and trade adding Australia is ready to support Fiji’s recovery from the impact of COVID-19.
