The late former Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Brigadier-General (Ret’d) Mosese Tikoitoga is an invaluable member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proudly answering the nation's call and demonstrating dedication and passion throughout his tenure.

This was the sentiment echoed by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere during the government’s i-reguregu at the late Tikoitoga’s residence at Pacific Harbour yesterday.

In a brief eulogy, Ratu Wiliame also emphasised that Tikoitoga's commitment and diligence significantly contributed to the deepening of our relations with Papua New Guinea.

The late Fiji’s High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, was a decorated military officer, having served 32 years in the Republic of Fiji Forces.

He rose through the officer corps, holding positions such as the Commander of the RFMF, Chief of Staff, Commander of Land Force, and Commanding Officer of Fiji's Peacekeeping Contingents in UN missions in Iraq and East Timor.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka was also present, as well as cabinet ministers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The RFMF has also confirmed that they will be firing blank rounds of the Ceremonial 10mm Howitzer Guns within the Vicinity of Pacific Harbour today to commemorate the passing of the late Tikoitoga.

They are urging those living within the vicinity not to be alarmed as the RFMF has ensured that all safety measures have been considered.

The late Tikoitoga will be laid to rest at the Pacific Harbour Cemetery, while a memorial service will be held at the Makosoi Methodist Church in Pacific Harbour at 11am today.
