Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says he and his team which includes the Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete are in the Northern Division to welcome more new developments to benefit more people.

Bainimarama says they are going to spend time with communities and listen to their concerns, ideas and aspirations.

He says they do more than just listen, they deliver development that changes lives for the better.

Bainimarama says the government he is proud to lead does not sit in offices in Suva and make all its decisions.

The Prime Minister says they make decisions on the ground.

While commissioning the new $1.1 million buildings at the Nadi District School in Bua which was destroyed during Tropical Cyclone Winston, Bainimarama says in the aftermath of TC Winston, they knew they could never risk such devastation again.

He says day by day, they gave meaning to their rallying cry “Stronger Than Winston” by fulfilling promises to build back better, putting in the time and resources to rebuild in line with cyclone-resilient standards.

The Prime Minister says they never gave up, even in the face of new cyclones like Keni, Josie, and Gita and, more recently, cyclones Sarai, Tino and Harold.

He says every building which includes the dining hall, hostel, teachers quarters and school block has been rebuilt to withstand the winds of future storms as part of their national commitment to rebuild better.

Bainimarama says not everything can be built overnight and they cannot settle for slap-stick solutions or gimmicks as the real, resilient development takes time.
