Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew

The Fiji Police Force as an institution is not corrupt.

Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew stressed this saying the actions of a few officers who have worked against their ethics and the law is not reflective of institutional corruption that is accepted amongst all ranks.

Chew reiterated this in relation to media articles and commentaries regarding the institutions handling of matters pertaining to corrupt practices of Police officers.

He says he has made this statement on numerous occasions, in that the Fiji Police Force is not corrupt.

The Acting COMPOL says they have been open when it comes to investigating and the charging of police officers based on independent legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and this is a testament to how they take reports against police officers seriously.

He says during his tenure, he has called for the thorough conduct of investigation when an official report is lodged.

The Acting Commissioner says if people have credible information not based on hearsay and have evidence to support claims of corruption, please do come forward and lodge a report.

He says that he stands by the thousands of other officers who diligently and honestly conduct their work but are unfortunate to have been painted with the same brush by rumor mongers and keyboard warriors who make baseless accusations all based on hearsay.

Chew adds officers are united in protecting the professional integrity of the organisation.
