Gavoka says SODELPA will try to bring back ethnic based voting to maintain a percentage of representation in parliament

SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka

The Great Council of Chiefs is the pinnacle of who we are as a people.

This was stated by SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan as he says they will bring back the GCC but not in the form that it was in the past.

He says the GCC they want to bring will not be responsible for choosing the President as was done previously.

Gavoka says they can activate it through the Itaukei Affairs Act.

He says they will try to bring in some parts of the 1997 Constitution, and their target will be to get back ethnic based voting for some seats to maintain a percentage of representation in parliament but there will also be some open seats.
