Tele’a receives three week suspension for red card offence

The Auckland Blues will not have the services of Mark Tele'a this Friday when they take on the Western Force in round 12 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby after the star winger copped a 3 match ban for a red card offence against Tim Ryan in last week’s 35-21 loss to the Reds.

Tele'a’s tackle on Ryan occurred in the 31st minute of the match last week.

The Foul Play Review Committee determined the low-range entry point of six weeks/matches was appropriate for the incident.

In light of the player accepting he committed an act of foul play as well as mitigating factors such as his prior disciplinary record, the Committee applied the full 50 percent reduction in sanction.

Tele'a has been suspended from all forms of the game for three weeks, which will apply to the Blues vs Western Force match this Friday, the Fijian Drua vs Blues match next Friday and their match against Moana Pasifika on the 17th of next month.

Meanwhile, the Blues will face the Force at 7.05pm on Friday.
