Team from CID HQ to investigate case where a man allegedly ran over his own passenger in Labasa

A team from CID Headquarters in Suva will be conducting investigations into a case where a 58 year old man of Wailevu, Labasa allegedly ran over his own passenger which resulted in the death of the man on Nasikasika cane access road on Sunday.

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has directed the Chief of Investigations and Intelligence in this regard after analysis of the initial incident report.

When asked whether the suspect has been questioned, Police say he had fallen ill and they will question him once medically cleared.

A 50 year old farmer of Korotari, Labasa had allegedly hit the 58 year old suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect allegedly got off the vehicle with one of his passengers and allegedly threw things at the other driver's vehicle.

The suspect got back in the car and when he reversed his car he allegedly ran over his passenger resulting in his death.

Meanwhile, the 50 year old farmer of Korotari who had allegedly hit the suspect’s vehicle has written to the Police Commissioner through his lawyer, Sushil Sharma requesting for free, fair and independent investigation from police officers outside Labasa and for police to provide home security until the suspect is detained.
