The Deputy Head Boy of Queen Victoria School and Under-18 rugby captain, Sailosi Taka says the boys are following their daily training schedule and always aim to improve their performance in every game.
Taka is originally from Namuka Village in Nakelo, Tailevu.
He attended Nakelo District School from Year 1 to 8.
Taka says that despite the lack of training equipment at the school, this has not affected the students’ focus.
He adds they make the most of the resources available to maintain their fitness and perform well on the field.
Taka also shared that he hopes to perform well during the Vodafone Deans Competition and secure an overseas contract to pursue a professional rugby career.
Taka adds that this year, the biggest opponents for the QVS side are Marist Brothers High School and Ratu Kadavulevu School, as both were the top two teams in the Under-17 grade last year in the Deans Competition.
Meanwhile, more than 11,000 boys and 4,000 girls are participating in the Raluve and Deans competitions this year.
In the Eastern Division games scheduled for this weekend, RKS will face St. John’s College, Lelean Memorial School will take on Nakasi High School, while QVS will have a bye.
