Team BulaBots from the University of the South Pacific will represent Fiji in the FIRST Global Challenge Robotics Competition

Team BulaBots from the University of the South Pacific will represent Fiji in the FIRST Global Challenge Robotics Competition that will be held in Singapore from the 7th to the 10th of October.

The team is mentored by Dr. Utkal Mehta and Ashneel Chand from USP.

The team consists of 4 students with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, with their different skill sets and ideas coming together to innovate solutions to prevalent problems in our country, and around smaller island nations such as climate change.

The students are Jett Quai Hoi, Charlize-Joy Smith, Eshal Bari, and Vicky Wu.

Team Fiji believes that the solutions lie in the integration of traditional knowledge and innovative technology, along with the support of the global community.

Also, BulaBots is certain that no one is in this fight alone.

During an interview with fijivillage News, Dr. Utkal says they have conducted interviews to select the most dedicated students interested in creating robots for applications related to climate change.

Dr. Utkal further says that they have applied for this competition and received approval from FIRST Global, a non-profit public charity dedicated to inspiring science and technology leadership, innovation, and collaboration in young people from all nations to empower them to address the world’s most pressing issues.
