Tahtiyana Taukei and Timaima Tuivakano will be able to pursue their studies in the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery programme through scholarships provided by the Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara Education Trust Fund.

Taukei says this scholarship has strengthened her belief that nothing is impossible with God and it will help her achieve her academic and personal goals.

Tuivakano says she is grateful for this initiative as it has always been her dream to be a doctor, and she will do her best to achieve her dream and give back to her province.

Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara Education Trust Fund Chairperson, Dr Esther Batiri Williams says the Lau Provincial Council recognizes outstanding students through its scholarships and loans.

Williams says a total of 12 students have been awarded scholarships and loans this year.

She adds the scholarships and loans will allow these 12 students to pursue studies in health and medicine, nursing, engineering, automotive engineering, education, information technology and networking and welding and fabrication at local universities.

Williams further says these students are from different districts and islands in the Lau Province including Cicia, Kabara, Lakeba, Lomaloma, Moala, Nayau, Ono, Totoya and Fulaga.
