Sakeo Taganeca from Savusavu has taken the initiative to start his vegetable farming by planting lettuce as a source of income for his family.

Taganeca, who is a graduate student from the University of the South Pacific in the Agriculture Science program, says whatever knowledge he has, he utilises it to start his business.

The 30-year-old says he started his farming in November last year and so far he has managed to supply lettuce to some restaurants in Savusavu and also to some supermarkets who have shown interest in buying his produce. He also uses organic manure and materials to plant vegetables.

Taganeca is urging those who have been in this business for a long period to be advocates of nature by using available resources.
