Tropical Cyclone Mal has rapidly weakened in the last few hours but has been maintained as a category 1 on its way out of our Area of Responsibility.

The Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre in Wellington has now taken over.

Meanwhile, the Fiji National Disaster Management Office confirms that help is on its way to victims of TC Mal.

They say their contractors have been working round the clock since last night to pack food ration supplies to be delivered to Fijians affected by Tropical Cyclone Mal.
