TC Kevin: Flash flood warning issued for Rakiraki, Nasivi and Ba Rivers and flash flood alert for rest of the Western Division remains

A flash flood warning is now in force for low lying areas, small streams and flood prone areas within Rakiraki, Nasivi and Ba Rivers and a flash flood alert also remains in force for flood prone areas, small streams and low lying areas for the rest of the Western Division.

The Weather Office says Category 4 Severe Tropical Cyclone Kevin has exited Nadi Area of Responsibility and warning responsibilities have been handed over to the New Zealand Meteorological Service however,an active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain continues to affect the group

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Northern Ba and Ra, greater Nadi/Lautoka/Ba area, Sigatoka, interior Navosa, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Groups.

The warning is also now in force for the land areas of Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Northwestern Viti Levu including Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Groups, Bua and Macuata.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all Fiji waters.

Strong and gusty winds is expected to prevail over the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Northwestern Viti Levu including Rakiraki,Tavua, Ba, Lautoka and Nadi, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Bua and Macuata until tomorrow.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected to persist over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, northern Ba and Ra, greater Nadi, Lautoka and Ba area, Sigatoka, interior Nadroga-Navosa, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller island, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Rain is expected to continue over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group while easing to showers over the rest of the country On Tuesday.

There is also risk of coastal inundation over the coastal areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Coral Coast, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu and Southern Lau group.

Hazardous breaking waves, strong currents are risky for swimming, fishing and other recreational sea activities. Sea conditions can also be dangerous especially for small sea crafts as it can capsize due to large waves and rough seas.
