Sydney is celebrating Diwali in grand style as the iconic sails of the Sydney Opera House were lit up in golden light on Monday night.

The New South Wales Government shared a photo of the glowing Opera House on facebook, stating that the lighting was part of the annual Diwali event held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

They say this tradition has been bringing communities together since 2011.

The golden lights symbolise the spirit of Diwali, which celebrates the victory of light over darkness and unity among people.

Meanwhile, a video going viral on social media is capturing hearts as it showcases beautifully decorated homes lit up for Diwali in Western Sydney.

The video highlights streets glowing with colourful lights, with Phantom Street in Nirimba Fields, and 1 Starling Street along with Parkway Drive in Marsden Park being the standout locations.

As the homes sparkle in celebration of the Festival of Lights, the video continues to gain attention online, spreading festive cheer across communities.
