Suva gears up for tough Skipper Cup clash against Nadi

Suva is ready for a tough battle against Nadi this weekend in the quarter final of the Skipper Cup Rugby Competition following last week’s close encounter between the two sides.

Suva Rugby Manager Ulaiasi Butukoro told fijivillage News that the team has worked hard on improving areas that let them down early in the match.

He says Nadi played well in the first half last week, but Suva finished strongly in the second half.

Butukoro adds they have been playing catch-up rugby lately, so their focus this week is to start well and maintain control from kick-off.

He says the training intensity has increased, with Suva concentrating on discipline, ball handling, game management, and set-piece consistency.

He adds defence has also been a major focus.

Butukoro says a solid defensive system will be the key for them.

He says they know Nadi will have a big crowd behind them, but they are prepared for the challenge.

Suva will take on Nadi at 3pm this Saturday at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

In another quarter final at Churchill Park, Tailevu will take on Lautoka at 1pm.

Meanwhile, Nadroga will face Malolo at 1pm, and Naitasiri will meet Ba at 3pm.

Both matches will be held at Lawaqa Park this Saturday.
