Suva Zone 2, termed the mini Coca-Cola Games, is set to begin tomorrow

Suva Zone 2, termed the mini Coca-Cola Games, is set to begin tomorrow

The Zone that is termed the mini Coca-Cola Games because of its rivalry and competitiveness over the years, the Suva Zone 2, is set to begin tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

During an interview with fijivillage Sports, General Secretary of Suva Zone Two Donald Reece says they also call it a mini Coca-Cola Games because the zone winner most of the time goes on to claim the Coca-Cola Games title.

Reece says top guns like Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School will be competing against other schools in the zones who are looking to provide the challenge in the next two days.

Reece says the defending boys’ champion Marist will look to retain their title this year, while Suva Grammar School will want to defend the girls’ title and hopefully inspire their boys' team to create an upset this year.

He says the two-day tournament will give more time for athletes to rest and those taking part are encouraged to be the best version of themselves compete well in the true spirits of the games and display good sportsmanship.

Reece says security will be tough in the two-day tournaments and students, parents, and guardians can expect heavy Police presence not to compromise the safety of students and the public.

He says tickets will be available at the venues, with grandstand tickets costing $10 per day and embankment seats costing $7 per day.

The Suva Zone 2 will be held tomorrow and Wednesday.
