Suva Grammar secures first Deans U18 semi final spot after 16-11 win over Cuvu

Suva Grammar secures first Deans U18 semi final spot after 16-11 win over Cuvu

Suva Grammar School has booked the first spot in the Vodafone Super Deans U18 semi final next week after a close 16-11 win over Cuvu College earlier this afternoon.

Grammar’s fly-half Semisi Turaganivalu was the toast for his side scoring 11 points off his boots with 3 penalty kick at goals and a conversion to help the Nasese-based school progress to the next stage of the competition.

Jayvyn Rekisa scored the lone try for Grammar.

Indiscipline and poor decision making cost Cuvu the game as Grammar capitalised on the Westerner’s blunders.

Cuvu scored the first points of the match after an early unconverted try in the opening 15 minutes of the game.

Grammar replied with a converted try to take the lead before Turaganivalu added another three points before Cuvu added another 3 points.

The game went into halftime with Grammar holding a slight 10-8 lead.

The second U18 quarter final between Natabua High School and Lelean Memorial School is currently underway.
