A suspect is in Police custody at the Lami Police Station following the discovery of marijuana in his vehicle and his home last night.

Police say the suspect was travelling in a vehicle that was stopped at Nadonumai Roundabout last night, and during the process, he threatened the Police Officer.

They say with the assistance of the K-9 Unit, a plastic bag containing five dried branches and leaves suspected to be marijuana was discovered.

A further search was conducted at the suspect’s home, where another plastic bag containing loose dried leaves believed to be marijuana was allegedly found.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says drug arrests continue every day and Police will continue this momentum throughout the festive season.

He says they are targeting anyone who is suspected of drugs, and they will be checking on all drug spots, suspected vehicles and vessels that will be moving during this festive session.

ACP Driu says they have stepped up their game in the war against drugs during this festive season through its operations and awareness.

He adds they will continue to do surprise stop checks on vehicles and anyone they encounter to be suspicious.

The Police Head of Operations says they are continuing with this drug war and are calling on members of the public to support them in this fight.
