Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa

Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa has clearly warned Fijian Elections Office staff that compromising their ethics and professionalism will have severe repercussions, including losing their job.

Mataiciwa highlighted this while responding to questions on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan about changing the mindset of the staff when she took over as the Supervisor and what is being done to ensure there is no political influence.

She says when she came in, one of the things that she had said and continues to say is that they are here to transform and not to conform which means all the things that have been done previously which were of administrative hindrance to those they serve are the things they need to look at.

Mataiciwa says they are there to have processes that are user-friendly and although it did take time but in preparation for the upcoming general election, things have changed.

The Supervisor says she has emphasized to the staff at the FEO that Fiji is a small country but it should not be a reason for them to compromise their ethics and professionalism.

She says they have to follow the law and when they do, they are not compromised and are serving Fijians which is their main priority.
