Following requests from Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation and Association of Banks in Fiji, the Ministry of Employment has extended the written submissions timeline for the proposed Employment Relations Bill and the Work Care Bill to Monday, 10th February.

The Ministry says this extension reflects their commitment to ensuring inclusive dialogue and that diverse perspectives are considered in the legislative review process.

Employment Minister, Agni Deo Singh says the Ministry has been receiving overwhelming submissions from key stakeholders (employer organizations, trade unions) and individuals.

He says they recognize the importance of these Bills and the impact they will have on the workforce and businesses.

Singh says by extending the deadline for submissions, they hope to encourage more individuals and organizations share their thoughts and concerns, which will ultimately lead to a more fair and balanced legislation.
