Strong Fijiana XVs side with 1 debutant named for Japan test tonight

Vodafone Fijiana XVs coach Mosese Rauluni has named a strong side to take on the Japanese Women’s XVs side in their first test match today with the inclusion of one debutant.

Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua backrower Aviame Veidreyaki will be making her debut off the bench as coach Rauluni tries out his different combinations leading up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup next year in England.

This will be the first test for the Fijiana XVs on their home soil since 2022 and they will be looking to start the two-test match series on a high today.

Ana Korovata, Litia Marama and Vika Matarugu, who will also be the vice-captain, make up the front row, Doreen Narokete and Mereoni Nakesa pair up at locks, Nunia Uluikadavu and Sulita Waisega will link up on the flanks and Fulori Nabura will be at number 8.

Evivi Senikarivi will start at halfback and will form the halves pair with Merewalesi Rokouono, who will start at flyhalf.

Captain Merewai Cumu and Atelaite Buna will be in the centres while Merewairita Neivosa and Adita Milinia on the wings with Luisa Tisolo at fullback.

There will be a lot of firepower as well on the bench with Keleni Marawa, Loraini Senivutu, Tiana Robanakadavu, Asinate Sereviand Aviame Veidreyaki covering for the forwards while the Setaita Railumu, Sala Kinita and Jeniffer Ravutia covering for the bench.

The Fijiana will take on Japan at 6 this evening at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva in their first test match. Tickets are $15 for the grandstand and $5 for grass seating and children under 12 will enjoy free admission.
