Sports can be a weapon to minimise issues such as drugs and teenage pregnancy which is prevalent in iTaukei communities.

While speaking to fijivillage News, former Nakavu Village headman, Mitieli Nanita Moceyawa says sports can mould youths physically, spiritually and also mentally.

Moceyawa says when youths are grounded well with these three factors, changes will be experienced in the communities.

He says the Vunivalu na Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has also reminded the people of Namosi during the last district meeting in Veivatuloa that if anyone is found to be selling drugs in the village and crimes will be removed from the village.

Meanwhile, Mau Village Headman, Ananaisa Rokovatunawa says to reduce crime in the iTaukei communities, parents need to know their roles and remind their children of what their responsibilities are when living in the village.

Rokovatunawa says no one else is to be blamed because the first school is home where children need to learn about respect from their parents.
