Spain secures first semi final spot in FIFA Women’s World Cup after 2-1 win over Netherlands

The Spanish Women’s football side is the first team to secure its place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup after edging Netherlands 2-1 in the first quarter finals this afternoon.

This is also the first time Spain has qualified for the semi finals of the Women’s World Cup.

Caldentey Oliver and Salma Paralluelo scored for Spain while Van Der Gragt scored for Netherlands.

Both teams were tied nil-all at half time.

In another quarter final, Japan will play Sweden at 7.30pm tonight.
