Challenges are an ongoing constant in business and we must eradicate any stigma through collective success.

This was highlighted by Tewaka Managing Director, James Sowane while sharing his challenges and story during the Women Invigorating the Nation Convention at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Sowane says 24 years ago he and his wife had to live with the stigma that they do not belong or can not make it in business and will never be successful.

He says he was told that his business is not bankable when he approached to present their finance request for their first public service vehicle.

However, despite these challenges the company now has 51 vehicles with medium size coaches, vans, SUV’s, and sedans in their fleet and is the only company that has 4 female professionals.

The Director further says when we commit to something, especially in business then it becomes our life, we lose touch with family, friends, we take work home every day and every conversation is about business.

Sowane also says, business is all about resilience and hard work therefore we must humbly keep striving, and keep talking about it to stay more focused.
