Defending champions Liverpool has suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton in the Premier League this morning.

Former Liverpool striker, Danny Ings scored the only goal of the match with a delightful finish in the 2nd minute.

Liverpool came close to scoring on a number of occasions but failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

The loss gives Manchester United a chance to go three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the points table if they win their game in hand against Burnley next week.

United and Liverpool both have 33 points but Liverpool has a better goal difference.
