Lateef pleads not guilty to unlawful possession of illicit drugs
Former Suva-based lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef has pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Lateef appeared before Suva Magistrate Sufia Hamza this morning.

He is alleged to have been found with 0.584 grams of methamphetamine on December 4th last year.

Lateef has been remanded further.

The case will be called again on May 19th to set a trial date.

Meanwhile, Lateef was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison in February this year after being convicted of unlawful possession of 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and 3.5 grams of marijuana on May 9th, 2019.

He was found guilty of two counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs in Suva.
