As Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations commence across Fiji from today until next Saturday, Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh urged mandalis and community leaders to use this festive occasion to promote respect for all religions and places of worship.

While extending his warm wishes to Hindus in Fiji and around the world, he called for prayers for peace among communities and encouraged spreading messages of love and harmony throughout Fiji’s diverse society.

He highlighted the festival’s rich cultural events, including teachings on the values of Lord Krishna, prayer sessions, kirtan, bhajan, and dance performances.

The Minister also stressed the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of drug use and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, especially among youth, during the festival.

He says that by including these important lessons in our celebrations, we can inspire positive change and build a safer, more supportive community.
