Recent heavy rain in the Western and Northern Division has caused flooding resulting in several roads and crossing being closed.

The Fiji Roads Authority confirms that Sabeto Road at the junction is flooded, Queens Road at Sabeto Junction is limited to one lane, Nasau Crossing, Drasa Dam Road Crossing, Vakabuli Paipai Road and Buabua 1st Road Crossing is closed to all traffic.

The Cemetery Crossing, Varadoli Back Road Crossing, Varadoli Back Road, Qerelevu Crossing and Marinitawa Crossing are under water.

They say Katudrau Crossing in Rakiraki, Toge Road (Nacai Crossing) in Ba and Narara Crossing in Rakiraki are also closed to all traffic.

In the North, Qelemumu Low Level Crossing, Banikea Crossing, Banikea Kavula Rd, Lekutu, Bua, Drawa Crossing, Kawakawa Vesi Road, Lalakoro Crossing 2, Buavou Crossing, Namuavoivoi 2nd Splash Crossing and Zailav Crossing is closed to all traffic, while Nasarava Culvert Crossing is only open to 4x4 vehicles.

A Flood Warning is now in force for flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Ba River while a Flash Flood Warning remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood prone areas and small streams of Vanua Levu and parts of Viti Levu including Naitasiri, Tailevu through Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba and Lautoka.

A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the Central and Northern Division, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

The Nadi Weather Office says flash flooding of some low-lying areas, informal settlements, small streams and Irish crossings will lead to disruptions in traffic, surface flooding is expected on roads due to poor drainage and risk of isolated flooding of areas downstream of major rivers and coastal areas especially during high tide.

The Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slow-moving to the West of Fiji with an embedded shallow low pressure system located near Kadavu which is associated with clouds, showers and rain.

People should expect more rain as a few embedded low pressure systems are expected to affect Fiji until next week.
