Fiji Bitter Series leaders and one of the top favourites of the 48th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s BLK Lavidi Brothers have been bundled out of the main cup competition after losing 7-5 to DXC Barbarians in the pre-elimination rounds.

Lavidi had the services of former national 7s reps, Tevita Daugunu, Iowane Raturaciri and current Fiji 7s forward Ropate Rere.

DXC Barbarians scored the first try of the match in the 5th minute of the game with the conversion successful for a 7-0 lead.

Lavidi replied in the second half with an unconverted try to trail 7-5.

Slippery conditions due to heavy rain played a huge factor as well for most of the games this afternoon and it did prove costly for Lavidi losing the ball in the last minute of the match which gifted the Barbarians the win.

In other pre-elimination matches, Uluinakau Babas edged Kavala Bay Babas 7-5, Wainimala beat Waibasaga 5-0, Ratu Filise defeated St. John's Draiba 12-7, Navala overcame Namosi Highlanders 15-7, Ravuka Sharks beat Bula Brothers Nabukavesi 21-5, Joma Brothers defeated Marist CYM Tokou 14-5 and Fire Rugby beat Bua Babas 28-0.

The 1st Cup elimination will be played tomorrow along with the U21 Men's quarter finals and the Women's semi finals.

The first match of day 3 will kick off at 8am tomorrow at the HFC Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Men's Cup quarter finals will kick off at 1.01pm, the cup semi finals will start at 3.35pm and the main cup Final will kick off at 7.30pm tomorrow.

The Women’s final will be held at 6.40pm.
