With 27 schools being affected by water disruptions due to a burst main along Princes Road in Tamavua, Acting Permanent Secretary for Education, Timoci Bure confirms that schools will remain open today.

Bure says they have circulated the information to the affected schools, and they will monitor the situation.

He says the Water Authority of Fiji has informed them that the water trunk line will be taken offline at midday today, which is why they decided to keep the schools open.

Bure says they will continue to monitor the situation with WAF, and release a statement if the situation gets worse.

According to WAF, the schools affected include Samabula Primary School, FNU Samabula, Suva Primary School, Gospel Primary School, Gospel High School, Suva Sangam School, Jay Narayan School, Indira Gandhi Primary School, Marist Brothers High School, Yat Sen Secondary School, Holy Trinity Anglican School, University of Fiji Samabula, Arya Samaj Primary School, Marist Primary School, Nehru Memorial Primary School, Hilton Special School, LDS Primary School, Fiji School of Nursing, Tamavua Primary School, Nabua Primary School, Nabua Secondary School, Suva Muslim Primary School, Suva Muslim College, Pacific Polytech Institute, Saint Agnes Primary School, and Ratu Sukuna Memorial School.
