All schools in the Northern and Western divisions and Ovalau will reopen today.

Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca says schools that were used as evacuation centres have been cleared and they are urging all teachers to assist in the preparation and clean-up of their schools.

Kuruleca says they want the school environment to be conducive to learning.

She says the past few days were not easy for students and she is reminding teachers to be supportive when students return to school.

The Permanent Secretary is urging everyone to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines, especially regarding areas prone to flooding or other hazards.

She further says that with expected rain over the next few days, all parents and guardians should ensure the safety of their children at all times, and continue to exercise vigilance and discretion.
