A former District School Committee member appeared in the Labasa Magistrates Court today for the alleged abuse of the Free Education Grant.

Filipe Tuisabeto was charged by the FICAC with a count each of Obtaining a Financial Advantage and Causing a Loss.

Tuisabeto is alleged to have deposited $1,200 from the school’s Free Education Grant into his personal account for his own expenses.

He is further alleged to have caused a loss of $2,056.96 to the school by misappropriating the amount from the Grant between December 2014 and March 2015.
