Former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says his main focus is on his health and court cases.

Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed this to fijivillage News, when asked if he is trying to get back into politics and if he will be involved in setting up a new political party.

He says there are no specialists available in the country who can treat him.

When asked about his post last Sunday stating that despite hurdles, he will continue to serve Fiji and the Fijians, Sayed-Khaiyum says there are lots of ways, and getting the public's voices heard is very important.

He has claimed that no large new investments are taking place.

He says no specific new large-scale investment is taking place, however, there may have been some announcements but they now need to see the result of it.

He questioned what significant difference is there from what they've done and are there any details in the National Development Plan.

Sayed-Khaiyum says there are fundamental economic issues in the country.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica earlier said that the Fijian economy is looking positive, with $6 billion worth of investments in the pipeline. Kamikamica says the Fijian economy should be on an upward trajectory this year.

He say he has been trying to rebuild Fiji with five key objectives which include economic diversification, encouraging SME cooperative movement, ease of doing business, digitization, and review of laws.

He adds another big investment is by Google who will build a $200 million Data Centre in the country and also bring four Subsea Cable to Fiji.
