Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he is flabbergasted that as a former Minister of Education, SODELPA MP, Ro Teimumu Kepa says that men cannot handle sanitary pads or will be shy.

He highlighted this while responding to her question to Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar on what is the modality used in the distribution of these items in the rural and maritime schools as it is mostly the men who are moving the cargo around and they have noticed that during food distribution the men do not like to come if some of those items are in the packages.

Sayed-Khaiyum says he is also flabbergasted by SODELPA MP, Salote Radrodro’s question to the Minister for Education to explain how providing sanitary pads in schools has become a priority of the government when schools are still closed and if that can hang on until the budgetary revision at the end of the year, and use the allocation to provide food for those that are really in need.

He says that food is important but she should know that food is being distributed and in the food packs they already have sanitary pads.
