Residents of Sakoca, Tamavua and nearby have raised concerns as they have been facing water supply disruptions since February.

Sanjay Narayan of Sakoca says the water supply is only provided in the early morning and sometimes in the afternoon but the pressure is very low.

He says this is affecting the many residents as most of them are working and most of the time they do not have any water to bath, drink, do their cooking or attend their prayer meetings and functions.

Narayan says they have raised the issue to the Water Authority of Fiji and the Ministers however, there has been no response from them.

He says the only response they got from WAF was that they are waiting for the Viria Water Treatment plant to go online, which was supposed to deliver water from June this year.

The concerned residents say they fill their buckets and bottles whenever there is water carting provided on demand however, they can not keep that for more than 2 or 3 days as the mosquitoes start to breed in them which can lead to sickness and diseases.

Narayan says this is a continuous issue now.

Many residents along the Suva Nausori corridor have also raised concerns about when will the Viria Water Treatment plant be online as they are facing issues of no water to very low water supply.

We have sent questions to the Water Authority of Fiji.
