From the humble beginnings inspired by Blessed Anne-Marie’s vision, to the vibrant community that thrives today, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School has been a beacon of excellence in Catholic education for the past seven decades.

The school had a mass today to celebrate the Feast of St Joseph, their patron, marking the start of their year of thanksgiving as they look ahead to the Platinum Jubilee in 2026.

Principal, Jacqueline Low says the legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny lives on, empowering students and guiding them to become women of substance in their families, communities, and the nation.

She says they are breaking barriers as the first school in Fiji to lead the way in digital learning, fully utilizing the Moodle platform to the level they have achieved.

The event saw alumni reunite from several decades ago, sharing their experiences and reflecting on what the day meant for them.

Sapeta Kunau from the class of 1995 says it was heartwarming to witness the launch, and see the current generation of students thrive, and reminisce with her peers from decades ago.

She says it was overwhelming to see the growth of the school where she studied and where her daughter is currently a student.

Fashion trainer and ex student from the early 1980s, Rosie Emberson Semisi says she has worked with the school’s Home Economics department on several occasions to assist students with TVET programs, teaching them valuable life skills.

She says it is important for students to learn life skills, whether as a hobby or for self-sufficiency, alongside academics to ensure their holistic development.

She says she is happy to give back to the school where most of the female members of her family studied and urges the younger generation to move forward with courage, determination, and the blessings of their alumni.
